Same-Sex Kinky Action- Are you who you do?

I saw a neat little article on LifeSiteNews (drop by and visit, they’re pretty good at reporting Catholic/life issues).  So I thought I should share it.

A group of about 200 young people (and some older as well) got in front of their beloved Cathedral in France, and amidst people screaming obscenities at them, prayed, shouted some good old papal slogans, and sang. Booya! (see it here@  http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2010/jun/10061709.html )

Why all the fuss? Well, there is apparently something they call a kiss-in going on in some places whereby people who have homosexual feelings decide that smooching in public in places where that *behavior* is not tolerated is a great idea for a protest. Obscenities are optional.

So why are 200 Catholics (and many more) outraged by this form of protest? Well for one thing, if you know anything about protests its not normally the action, its the thought that counts. Catholics have been labeled as homophobic bigots in today’s everything-is-true-except-for-Catholicism-world. We have been painted as big, stuffy, bureaucratic , old farts that just can’t stand the fun homosexuality brings into the world. Basically, we’re tantamount to the KKK, just against gays and with less sheets and stuff.

This “kiss-in” was like one giant middle finger aimed not just at the Cathedral, but at all Catholics.

A lot of this stems from a mis-communication.

CC2357

“Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,140 tradition has always declared that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.”141 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved”

Yeesh, that is a strong statement there. But notice the wording…homosexual acts. Not feelings, but actions are being condemned here. Why? Because we believe the word of God, and because they close the sexual act to the gift of life. To a Catholic, it is inconceivable that sexual acts be separated from procreation. Just because procreation is a helluva lot of fun does not mean that it didn’t have a purpose.

Come on, how many mothers would go through sex again if they felt no pleasure and nine months later a baby pops out, ripping the pelvic area into pieces, plus making them fat?

The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God’s will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord’s Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

Wow, this sounds just like a bigot, doesn’t it? Respect, compassion and sensitivity is just seething with hate, especially when you read that unjust discrimination should be avoided.

With stuff like this, how is there a mis-communication? First, you have the Joe Idiots out there, who twist the Church’s words to berate and abuse others. Then, you’ve got the large group of Protestants, who range from Westboro Baptist Cult to something similar to Catholics to something completely different. But its always the idiots who get the most attention, so the large group of Protestants who aren’t crazy get to be painted with the crazy brush anyways. And then, everyone loves to blame a Catholic (if not a Jew. Or the Mexicans.)

Second, today’s society knows how to separate actions from being. Yeah, right. According to conventional idiocy logic, what I do determines who I am. This sort of makes sense. So, if I’m in high school and decide to experiment with another girl, I must be gay. Of course, this sort of logic hits a wall with people who experiment and later on get married. (But they just got married to hide their gayness!!!)

The equation is kind of like this:

Catholics don’t like same-sex kinky action->people who do the same-sex kinky action ARE the same-sex kinky action->ergo Catholics hate same-sex kinky actioners.

Guess what? You are not necessarily what you do. For instance, I’m very very straight. Other than my boobs, which may be curvy. Yet, I am not having sex. So does that mean I’m not hetero? What am I then?

Do people cease to be homosexual if they decide to live a celibate and chaste lifestyle? Heteros? Bi-sexuals?

No. Because homo/hetero/bi sexuality is determined by WHO you are ATTRACTED to, not the one (or many) people you prefer to spend kinky-action nights with.

You go, French Catholics. No more Catholic phobia indeed (they shout that a couple of times.) Here’s a video, courtesy YouTube. Its in Spanish.
